People look at concrete and they think the concrete is the job. It's not. The job is what's underneath it. When we come in, especially on a replacement, we prepare the whole base. We dig it out to where we need to be, we get the ground uniform, and we compact it so it's solid and it's the same all the way across. That last part matters more than people know. If one part of the ground is solid and another part is soft, that slab is going to move at different rates and it's going to crack right there where they meet. Water is the other thing. If water is sitting under that slab and it's got nowhere to go, it will work on it season after season. So the base has to drain. All of this is work nobody sees and nobody takes a picture of when the job is done. But it's the difference between concrete that's still good in twenty years and concrete you're calling somebody about in three.
